What to expect

Cold beer. Steady aim.

Dogwood bowling isn't your grandma's bowling alley — there's no fluorescent lighting, no dusty pin retriever, and no dad-rock soundtrack on repeat. We've reimagined the whole experience around hospitality, scratch-kitchen food, and a 80+ tap self-serve beer wall that's a few steps from your lane.

Electronic boards auto-score 301, 501, cricket, and round-the-clock games. Traditional steel-tip boards available for serious league play. Darts provided, or bring your own set if you're particular about flight and weight.

Casual play is free — just grab a board, grab a beer, grab some darts. League nights and tournaments run weekly at most locations. Check your local Dogwood for league signup.

Insider Knowledge

How to throw straight.

01

Stand square.

Plant your dominant foot behind the line. Square shoulders to the board. Keep your eyes on the target the entire throw — release point matters more than power.

02

Throw consistently.

Same stance, same grip, same release every time. Repeatable mechanics beat power. Most beginners try to throw harder when they miss — wrong move. Slow down, repeat the form.

03

Use your wrist.

The wrist snap is what gives darts spin and accuracy. Practice with just your wrist (no arm movement) at 50% distance to build the feel. Then add the arm back in.

04

One beer max per leg.

Darts and alcohol have a complicated relationship. One beer relaxes you and helps focus. Three beers and you're hitting the wall behind the board. League regulars know this.

Common Questions

Before you throw.

Quick answers about casual play, leagues, age policies, and bringing your own darts.

  • Do I need a reservation to play darts? +
No — casual dart play is always walk-in. We have multiple boards per location, so you'll rarely wait. League nights and tournament hosts get priority on specific boards during their booked times.
  • Are darts safe for kids? +
Kids 12+ are welcome on the electronic boards (soft-tip darts). Steel-tip and traditional boards are 16+ only for safety. Adult supervision required for all minors throwing darts.
  • What's the difference between electronic and steel-tip? +
Electronic boards use soft-tip darts and auto-score 301, 501, cricket, and other formats. Great for casual play. Steel-tip boards use traditional steel-tipped darts on bristle boards — preferred by league players for the tactile feel and precision.
  • Can I bring my own darts? +
Absolutely — most regular players do. House darts are provided at the bar, but they're basic. If you're into darts even casually, you'll want your own set with proper flight, weight, and grip preferences.
  • Is dart play included in the Fun Pass? +
Fun Pass is arcade-only — but casual dart play doesn't need a Fun Pass since it's already free. Just walk up, ask for darts at the bar, and play.
  • How do I join a dart league? +
Yes — most locations run weekly leagues. Sign-ups are posted in-house on the bulletin near the dart boards. Dues vary ($10-25/week typically) and end-of-season tournaments come with cash prizes.
  • Do you provide darts? +
Yes — ask at the bar for casual house darts (soft-tip for electronic boards). League players almost always bring their own. We don't loan steel-tip darts.
